New Testament Challenge – May 12

May 12 – Luke 24:13-35 – “And he replied to them, “What sort of things?” (Lk 24:19)

Disappointment is a reality. It happens all the time. Even the two “of them” were downcast because they were disappointed: Jesus didn’t fulfill their expectations, and now they were going home. But Jesus is with them even in that circumstance. How patiently He walked with them, listening and addressing their issues.

As a disciple of Jesus, I am called to keep my eyes on Him and choose to follow Him no matter the circumstances. Just as I can disappoint people, so they can disappoint me. This only means that I was paying too much attention to my expectations. Yet, in the midst of all this, I must be able to articulate my belief, be prepared to clarify my thoughts and explain well to others who God is. My experience does not change God’s being. I must remember that!
