Feb 11 – Mat 25:31-26:13 – “The king will say to them in reply: ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’” (Mat 25:40)
Love is so central to the Gospel, I can see it everywhere. And it must also be central to my life as a child of God and as Disciple of Jesus. There is no way out. The “final exam” will be based on how much love I have offered to the “least” ones, to those who are considered the lowest, the forgotten, the unlovable. These brothers and sisters of mine have reached this position only in our opinions because in the eyes of God they are still “His beloved.”
I must, therefore, change my opinion about them, first of all. Then, everything will follow. I must be loving to all people as if I were loving Jesus, with the same tenderness that the woman who showed up with the alabaster jar. I will continue to anoint Jesus with every act of love I will offer to every person I meet. I know that in the end, and at the end of my life, all that will remain of me is my love for others.
