New Testament Challenge – April 26

April 26 – Luke 17:11-37 – “The Kingdom of God is among you” (Lk 17:21)

There is nothing more precious than the presence of God – in the Word, in the Eucharist, in me, in the neighbor. But the Gospel also reveals something surprising: God is present in our midst. In the place that exists between another person and me. The Kingdom is there, and it can create its effects. Everywhere there are two or more people. At home, in the family, in the workplace, at the coffee place or supermarket.

I must become aware of this presence of God among us. I must take it seriously and do whatever I can to help God establish this presence. It is only in loving, in mutual love, that God has the opportunity to make His presence really felt in our midst. Then, He can guide me: every decision I have to make, every word I have to speak, every single thing can be imbued with this transforming presence of the Kingdom among us. What a gift! What a challenge!
