New Testament Challenge – April 23

April 23 – Luke 15:8-32 – “there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Lk 15:10)

Lost. Found. Joy. Compelling situations, way too familiar. I know what it means to rejoice after finding something precious, something that has been lost for quite sometimes. If I feel joy for some thing, I can imagine the joy that God and the angels feel when a sinner repents. I am touched by this simple reality: a sinner is precious to God, so much so that He is willing to do whatever He can to bring that person home. And He rejoices.

As a disciple of Jesus, I am called to have the same values of God. This means that I must also rejoice when a sinner repents when someone finds God. And I want to be the means through which people can experience God’s love for them. In this way, I will be able to give God many reasons to rejoice!
