April 14 – Luke 10:38-11:13 – “Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken from her” (Lk 10:42)
As a disciple of Jesus, I have to make choices every day. Every day I have to choose how to follow more closely my Teacher and how to share His message with others. Every day I have to choose to relate more intimately with God, and let His love and grace change and transform me. Every day I have to choose to make God’s love pass on to others so that, too, can discover the wonderful news: God is a father, and He loves us immensely, calling us all to His household.
Choices. Christianity is lived out by and through my many choices. But not all of them are the same; some are necessary, fundamental. As Mary did, I have to make sure that “the better part” will always remain my primary choice. I must choose, first and foremost, God. It is HE my better part, the first and fundamental choice. If I don’t choose Him above all things and above all people, all other dimensions of my life will not be changed accordingly. This is the choice I am going to make today: God. This is the choice I am going to make every day!
